Bio

Francis Pecoraro, MD, DABPMR, FAAPMR, is a physical medicine and pain management physician at Coastal Spine & Sports Medicine, PLLC, in Wilmington, North Carolina. He has over 25 years of experience, dedicated to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care.

Board Certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR) and the American Board of Pain Medicine (ABPM), he is currently board eligible for ABPM recertification. Dr. Pecoraro is fellowship trained in interventional pain management and combines advanced procedural expertise with a holistic bio/psycho/social approach to pain treatment, emphasizing patient satisfaction and optimal outcomes.

Throughout his career, Dr. Pecoraro has demonstrated proficiency in a wide array of interventional pain management procedures, including cervical, thoracic, and lumbar epidural steroid injections; selective nerve root blocks; facet joint and medial branch blocks; peripheral nerve and joint blocks; stellate and sympathetic ganglion blocks; and ligament and tendon interventions. His skill and experience make him a trusted leader in delivering effective, cutting-edge pain relief.

Prior to founding Wilmington Interventional Pain Management, Dr. Pecoraro was a highly productive and respected legacy partner in the largest orthopedic practice in North Carolina, where he was known for his efficiency, leadership, and commitment to advancing pain management techniques.

Dr. Pecoraro earned dual B.A. degrees in biological chemistry and cellular biology from the University of California, San Diego, where he received the Provost Recognition for Academic Excellence and the Queen’s Research Fellowship. He completed his Doctor of Medicine at Ross University School of Medicine and post-graduate training in Internal Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Temple University/Reading Hospital and the University of Minnesota, respectively. He completed his Interventional Pain Management Fellowship at California Pacific Medical Center and Pacific Pain Treatment Center in San Francisco.

Dr. Pecoraro is a Fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (FAAPMR) and remains committed to the latest advancements in pain management, providing patients in Wilmington and beyond with compassionate, individualized care.
